There are thousands of people who compete every year in Ironman events around the U.S. and internationally. While it is an individual sport, each individual is supported by a team of family, friends, bike mechanics, massage therapists, nutritionists, patient bosses, riding partners etc. This blog gives the reader a bird's eye view of the individual training, trials, and tribulations and the critical support of the village behind eventual success.
I probably would not be a good spokesperson for the Partnership for a Drug Free America. I'm not sure what drugs I was given yesterday but one minute I'm talking to the nurses and doctors and the next minute I wake up with some tube in my mouth. My foot still has no feeling and I'm grateful for a day of rest. The orthotic shoe is growing on me from a fashion perspective.
